Herbicide Application On Kissimmee ChainWater managers from The South Florida Water Management District and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection started spraying herbicide on parts of Lakes Tohopekaliga and Kissimmee Monday. A three-day restriction has been imposed on eating fish caught in the treatment areas. The herbicide contains the chemical Aquathol K.
The areas being treated specifically are Scotty's Cove in the northeast corner of Lake Toho and in the northernmost lobe of Lake Kissimmee. Signs are posted at boat ramps to remind anglers of the spraying and ban on fish-consumption. The ban expires Thursday, so weekend anglers should not be affected.
