Redbreast Sunfish

AKA: Redbelly / River Bream / Robin Perch / Yellowbelly Family: Bream / Perch

Redbreast Sunfish
Water: Fresh Where: Inland
Size: Most common at 5-8 ounces with the ability to growe much larger than that and possibly up to about 2 pounds.
Fight: For his size, one of the undiputed pound for pound, or in this case..ounce for ounce best fighters around. An agressive striker and unwilling particpant in the game of tug of war, altho due to its size, not a challenge to defeat.
Deliciousness: Good Panfish
Range: Fresh Water Technique: Drifting / Still Fishing / Casting
Baits: Earthworms / Crickets / Lures / Flies Tackle: Spinning / Fly Tackle

The redbreast Sunfish is characterized by a green upper body and a yellow or bright red underside, with stripes most likely being present running the upper flank.

These fish are found in faster waters of rivers and streams but may occaisionlly venture into lakes near the mouth of feeder waters.

Crickets and earthworms are the best natural bait, while spinners and topwater plugs are the best artificial bait.
