Warmouth

AKA: Warmouth Perch / Black Sunfish / Red-eye Family: Bream / Perch

Warmouth
Water: Fresh Where: Inland
Size: Most common at 7-10 ounces with a few lunkers reaching about a pound. The 2 pound monster is considered very unique.
Fight: An agressive and fiesty fighter. Known for fast hard strikes and quick runs.
Deliciousness: Excellent
Range: Fresh Water Technique: Still Fishing / Casting
Baits: Baitfish / Earthworms / Lures / Flies Tackle: Spinning / Fly Tackle

The Warmouth is characterized by a more bass like body, but is overall a darker brick to brown or even darker body, fadin a bit to the underside, along his flank he may have stripes runnim from behing the head, which may also have stripes, to his large rounded tail.

These fish are found in thinner waters, in streams, creeks or swamp, but occaisionaly come into lakes where they stick close to dropoffs along the shore.

Minnows and earthworms are the best natural bait, while plastic worms, streamers, poppers and plugs make for the best artificial bait.
