The White Catfish is characterized by a grey to green body, lighter than that of his cousin the Channel Cat, with no spots and a similarly forked tail, but more rounded at the tips. As is customary with his family there are barbels present at the lips, and long whiskers pertruding from the corners of the mouth. His head is large and flat, and has a more pronounced slope to his forehead.
These fish are found in moving waters or in still waters near inflows of other water, most likely congregating at deep sloughs or holes.
Live baitfish, cutbait, crickets and earthworms make for the best natural bait, while artificials are not commonly used when targeting this fish.
