Bonefish

AKA: Silver Ghost / White Fox / Macabi Family: Bastard

Bonefish
Water: Salt/Coastal Waters Where: Surf / Inshore
Size: Most common at 2-10 pounds. Large fish range from 15-17 pounds. Lunkers have been caught up to 20 pounds.
Fight: A strong fish. Capable and willing to make long runs. Excellent fight.
Deliciousness: Considered A Better Game Fish Than Dinner Fare
Range: East Coast Technique: Still Fishing / Casting
Baits: Shrimp / Baitfish / Crab / Lures / Flies Tackle: Spinning / Fly Tackle

The Bonefish is characterized by a stout, sleek body with a pinted beak with a pronounced over bite, Their topsides are darker in color with silverwhite flanks and underside leading to a large spread froked tail.

These fish are found in shallow flats and shorelines alond soft or grasyy bottoms, with larger schools forming in depper water with soft bottoms.

Live and dead shrimp and crabs are the best natural baits, while jigs and streamers make for the best articial bait.
