Size: Most common at 20-35 pounds with lunkers ranging from 35-50 pounds.
Fight: One of the best gamesters with stubborn long pulling runs.

The Permit is characterized by a football shape body that is silver with a tinge of yellowing on the underside, the top portion of the body is often a little darker. ALl fins are dark while the dorsal and anal fin have an elongated sickle shape to them. The head is compact and rounded and has a darker splotch behind the jaw under the pectoral fin.

Thses fish are found predominatly in the surf, although many are caught in cuts and channels and deeper bays.

Live crab is the ultimate bait, but also will take shrimp both live and dead, as well as cut squid and clam, all of which comprise the best natural baits, while jigs make for the best artificial bait.
