The Jewfish is charaterized by an overall tan to broze or darker body with even darker markings. Themarkings start off as spots or speckles the the head, leading to thick bands or stripes along his flanks, and again into specled to spotty marking on his large fan tail. An ungulating dorsal fin, with the first being very spikey.
These fish are found in near to inshore waters as well as deeps waters, most likely hanging around structure.
Live baitfish work the best while dead baitfish work well as the best naturla bait, while any actively retrieved artificials, such as jigs, poppers, streamers and tubes make the best artificial bait.
