The Needlefish is characterized by his elongated thin body that is somewhat blue to steel along the top with a lighter underside. The mouth is a long extended beak, rowed with very small teeth.
These fish are found at the surface of most of all Floridas waters, often encountered anywhere from the deep sea, all the way inshore and even up streams and rivers.
Pieces of shrimp and cutbait are the best natural bait, while artificials are not commonly used when targeting these fish, actually these fish are not targeted at all by most, but considered a nuisance.
