The Southern Puffer is characterized by a greenish to tan or darker body. His eyes rest at the upper side of his head and his mouth has large teeth that are powerful and should be paid attention to, not letting this nuisance fish get a small bite out of you.
These fish are found mainly at coastal and inshore waters in the shallows.
Shrimp pieces are the best natural bait, while all kinds of lures work, but are not used when targeting with artificials, anglers normally do not target these fish at all, as their sporting ability is close to zero and they are poisonous when eaten, if not prepared correctly.
