Striped Bass

AKA: Striper / Rock Bass Family: Striped Bass

Size: Most common at 5-20 pounds, but can reach weights up to about 40 pounds.
Fight: A strong and stubborn fish that really like to put on a good fight.
Deliciousness: Very Good

The Striped Bass is characterized by a powerful long but bulky body, which is green or darker along the topside and lighter to silvery on the underside. He has a long powerful jaw, with his lower jaw jetting forward. He also has stripes that run horizontally along his flank from the gills to a large fan tail.

These fish are found in slow to fast waters in rivers and bays.

Lively baitfish make for the best natural bait, while spinners, jigs, plastic worms and "natural" lures make for the best artificial bait.
