Anna Maria Island July Fishing Report Wow! Do we have a lot of Tarpon and I mean a lot. There are Tarpon by the thousands in passes, on the beaches and in the bay. If you can’t find a Tarpon to cast to in five minutes you must be blind, they are everywhere. We had a great week on Tarpon. It’s really nice to get out of bed in the morning, hopping into the boat just knowing you are going ...full report

Capt Kyle Messier

Happy Independence Day to all! With the passing of one of the most celebrated holidays in the country comes another celebration for the openings of both Gag Grouper Season and Scallop Season. Historically, July 1st has been the landmark day for the opening of our Nature Coast Scallop Season. However, this year Gov. Rick Scott surprised us with an early opening to Scallop Season on June 28th. Since ...full report

Tampa Bay July 15 Fishing Report Tarpon fishing remains good. We still have schools large enough to measure in the thousands. It looks like Tarpon fishing should be extended till about the end of the month. It looks as if we didn’t lose any fish on this last full moon and possibly even gained fish. It is shaping up to be one heck of a Tarpon season. The evening crab flow made for some tremendous ...full report

Tampa Bay June 4 Fishing Report Anna Maria Island is now known by many as the Tarpon Capital of the world. It’s the words I have been hearing more year after year as our Tarpon Fishery secret leaked out with the boom of the internet and social media. There’s no reason to hide it anymore the way we use to 10 and 15 years ago. Back in the day I would run the beaches for miles in search of ...full report

Tampa Bay, Anna Maria Island Fishing Report The heat has finally turned on around here and it finally feels like June. The past few days the Tarpon have been just pouring in. We really have a large number of Tarpon in the area in just the last few weeks. It seems that on this full moon we received even more. Tarpon are starting to show everywhere. There are schools to the south, schools to the ...full report

Angler Reports

02/21/13 2:36 PM

I am new to the area, and have not had much time to fish the lake, but in the past three trips I have been killing the jumbo Bluegills and Black Crappie. I am originally from Northern Michigan so that's what we call them. I think down here they may be called Bream and Specs, I'm not sure though. On 2/15/13 I caught 12 gills the largest on was 12.5 inches long and 6.75 inches from top to bottom. ...full report

Anclote Fishing Pier
08/13/12 11:13 PM

We took our kayak out on the Anclote River for some morning fishing. Bites were steady from 6:30 AM until 8:30 AM. We were landing keeper Mangrove Snappers with live shrimp on a cork. We also landed a small Flounder and 6lbs. Sheepshead using Gulp® Sand Fleas on a red jig. From 8:30AM until 10:30AM, action stopped dead, other than pinfish and other small fish stealing our bait. As we were reeling ...full report

Venice South Jetty To Englwood
07/28/11 1:26 AM

My clients in the Venice beach area have brought news of Blacktips along the beaches. The largest one this week I have seen was 3 feet long, caught on live shrimp. Large Flounder, the biggest one 20 inches are also along the beaches. The best technique I know and heard used this week was using pieces of squid cut into strips and then threaded onto a jig head, bounced off the bottom with a lift-pause-reel, ...full report

Richie27" Snook6/30/11 Caspersons BeachThe Snook have been hitting on shrimp, Pinfish, small white jigs as well as top water baits during the mornings & throughout the afternoon. Early evening, watch near rock piles and lighted areas such as bridge bumpers where these fish have been holding. Top water baits resembling small Baitfish are the most effective for night time. For Redfish, outgoing ...full report

Pasco County Florida
04/19/11 12:25 PM

Pasco County waters have been heating up, with a number of King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, and Trout being caught in virtually any depth of water. The tides have been strong, and so has the bite on live and artificial baits. Movement of the bait has been the key to targeting different species. Faster movements with flashy baits will produce the Kings and Spanish. Slower movement on the top ...full report
