Lake Toho
01/30/10 4:11 PM
Florida Bassin

The first half on January as seen some good bass fishing on Lake Toho, as well as some tough fishing at times. The tough fishing came when we got slammed with a brutal cold front, brutal that is for Florida. Water temperatures had dropped in the low 50’s for several days, with us hitting a few areas where water temperatures had hit as low as 48 degrees. This low water temperature in Florida lakes ...full report

Winter spawn is in full swing. I have been catching big female Bass. Some still full of eggs, a few already empty spawned out. Look for shallow water spawning areas, using plastic baits & live Shiners. Get them while their big, the spawn will be done before you know it. With the coldest temperatures in years in Central Florida shiner fishing is producing the larger fish. Not as many as you will catch on artificial. There is no sign of a spawn with temperatures hovering around freezing at night. Lake Toho has been tough but we manage few larger fish but one can only expect only a few bites a day. The Orlando Butler and Conway Chains are a lot better on artificicial. ...full report

Looking Forward To The Trophies On Lake Toho Soon!
01/08/10 9:03 AM
GuidedBassTrips

I'm really looking forward to my upcoming Guided Bass Trips on Lake Toho for the new year. Yes it has been cold lately and a drastic drop in water temperature has been known to make the Toho trophies lethargic....but....a sudden rise in water temperature is also known to make them easy! The second half of January and leading in to February should be just as productive or maybe even better than ...full report

Lake Toho
01/08/10 9:02 AM
Florida Bassin

The end of December proved to be yet another good week of Bass fishing on Lake Toho. Southern end of the lake is still producing some good numbers for us. Live bait has been a big key to catching Bass on a consistant basis but the artificial bite is was still producing some good catches. Most of our time had been spent targeting reeds and scattered patches of lily pads with some pretty good success. Yushi ...full report

Line Lesson Learned At Lake Harris
02/02/10 3:58 PM
F16

This transplanted Buckeye realized that bass in FL are line watchers unlike their cousins in the OH River Valley that may still see the line but not as easy due to water clarity. After going 4 to zip against a friend and using the same trick worms, I grabbed my spinning rod with 8# line and the smallest squeeze on worm weight I own. I used this rig with tubes at St Clair for Smallmouth. Haven't ...full report

Around 5 o'clock on Friday I pulled three largemouth (1-1.3 lbs.) out of the backside of a bend. All three fish were caught on a small jig w/ a Rage Tail (Strike King) on it. Water Clarity: Dingy/ Stained Water Temp: 72 ...full report

Water: clear, water temp: 60, time: 3:00 pm, windy/ rainy Tried many different lures, but the only thing that worked was a Mini King spinner bait: Chart/silver w/ a 2 1/2 in. trailer worm on the hook: Chart/black. The hit came seconds after it hit the water. The bait was free falling in about 12 ft. of water. Black Bass: 1 lb. ...full report

Ocklawaha River Near Hwy. 40.

Bansheekbh

Water temp.: 58 degrees Water clarity: Dingy-Stained Time: 2:30 pm- 4:30 pm I fished slow and deep. I had no success with spinners, cranks, or jigs. However, I did stumble onto something when I let a 6 in. neon orange worm, texas rigged sit on the bottom till it was moved by a Bass or 3. As things warm up, I suspect I'll see much sucess from this lure. ...full report
