reelfishing | Wow is it really February! The weather in Southwest Florida seems more like late March or April. I don't want to rub it in for you "snow birds" but the daytime temps have remained in the 70's and 80's and it looks like February is going to have more of the same. Red rolling moss has taken over many of the fishing spots here around Sanibel and Captiva. Windy conditions for the next few days and tides also move the moss around that likes to choke out our beautiful sea grass and fill in the sand holes.
A shortage of bait is fine with me. I like casting artificial lures any way.

Happy Holidays Everyone! Boca Grande fishing charters have continued to produce some outstanding Redfish action this month. I have had multiple 80 plus fish days and that's not including all of the Snook and Trout that are mixed in. I have had multiple 50 plus fish days and that's not including all of the Snook and Trout that are mixed in. The rods have definitely stayed bent. Cane Pole Cav | I caught 4 lunker Largemouth on a Jigg-n-Pig. Two were 6 ponds and the other two were 7 an 8-1/2 ponds. The weather was great, the water temp. was 65-68. Six yearling were caught on a black spinnerbait with a willow leaf blade. ...full report |
