Clients often ask what the best time of year yields the best catches and I always tell them that with out a doubt, April is it. Even slow days in April can be pretty good with sailfish and kingfish on almost every trip. Another great part of the spring fishing is the variety of target species that are in the area. A great example of this is the recent sighting of giant bluefin tuna and the capture ...full report

We have seen some outstanding fishing the past few weeks. Sailfish are still around in good numbers and are being caught while both sight fishing in 20-60 feet of water and slow trolling live baits from 60-150 feet. Tuna, Kingfish, Wahoo and Dolphin have also been caught while live baiting in the deeper water. Yellowtail and Mutton snapper have been biting on the reef as well as Cobia and Grouper (Grouper ...full report

With mild fronts moving through, the weather has been a mixture of heavy north to east winds followed by light breezes until another front approaches. Sailfishing has been consistant and most boats have been releasing 2-3 a day on average. Kingfish have not shown up in the usual numbers but you can still limit out if you make them your main target species. We've been trying to mix it up lately ...full report

October 13, 2012 Fort Lauderdale Charter Fishing There was a brutal 25-30 mph wind out of the north northwest kicking up 5-8 foot seas today, but we had three boatloads of anglers that were ready to fish. The Lady Pamela I, Lady Pamela II and the Lady Pamela III were about the only charter boats out today and we had a fishing bonanza. I was running the Lady Pamela II and we had caught one blackfin ...full report

Last week I had a good friend of mine in town to fish the Islamorada-Sarasota Shootout. Frank and I fished in an 18 foot Dolphin Skiff because my brand new Mercury Verado was broke down again! (btw any ideas besides buying a Yamaha?) We pre-fished Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday finding all the big trout and snook we needed to win. We also found lots of small tarpon, redfish, and unfortunately, ...full report

Well everything seemed to settle down after the minimal tropical storm we encountered last week. The weather has been been very good, with moderate to light winds in the 5 to 12 knot range for the most part. The Mahi bite has still been fair the past few days. If you find the right piece of debris (which holds bait and keeps the mahi around), your day can be made, which happened on the Catch 22 a few ...full report

Islamorada fishing has been pretty good this October with ideal conditions for several different species! A few of the days we've had some rain and overcast skies which has been great for Bonefish on the ocean side flats. Big schools of fish pushing through, and some large ones. Sight fishing is not very easy, but stake-up fishing is something you can do with the high water and glare to catch ...full report

It's not all about the lobster mini-season this week down here, we have Florida Keys fishing! I fished a full day in the backcountry on 7/28/11 and had a wonderful time. The wind was howling almost 20 knots most the day - very unusual for July! Though it kept the heat & sweat down for the most part, which was a welcome change. With thousands of people in the water snorkeling and diving looking ...full report

I had the pleasure of fishing former catcher of the Atlanta Braves, Greg Olsen and family Robbie & Racheal, last Sunday. It was a beautiful day, started out fairly calm with a light breeze and flat water. We ran in the backcountry and fished a bay area catching a mix of Ladyfish, Trout, Snapper, and a few small Sharks. We anchored up for a bit and netted some Ballyhoo for some bigger ladies and ...full report

I fished Jim & Gwen Johnson today for a great day fishing in Islamorada. They fished with me last winter when it was very cold so thought they'd give it a try in the spring when it was warmer!!! We ran 18 or so miles into the everglades national park and fished some channels back there, catching plenty of Trout, Ladyfish, Jacks, and of course Catfish! Good action pretty much non-stop! They stayed ...full report
