One of the greatest things about this time of the year is the fact that you almost always have the fish to yourself on any given day.Such has been the case for me this past week as the weather changes at a moments notice and then it's on fire. Cold fronts are here today and gone in 2 days and the bite in between is worth the efforts.
The water temperature is begining to fall a bit from the seventy degree mark and the fish are starting to adapt. Sheltered areas are gin clear and sight fishing is at its best in shallow water. Gator Trout are constantly roaming these areas in search of an easy meal. While most of the fish this time of year will be in the 5-7 lb range there are a few really nice fish to be caught as well. The most effective lure for me has been sub surface type lures like the mirro lure 7M, rapalas twitchin shad, the original Corky (green back) and a CP's Ultimate Clouser. The grass is sometimes a problem but worth the effort. Persistant anglers are landing a few trophy trout to nine pounds.
The Redfish are tailing on mosst area flats and shadowing mullet pods in close proximity, once you find the mullet, the reds are not far away. |
