High tide was at 6am, but the quickest I could get out to lot 12 was 7:30, just after sunrise. The surf was about 3 feet, bearable with a 4 ounce weight. First cast brought in a small catfish, but a couple casts later I scored a keeper Black Drum off of frozen shrimp. That was enough motivation to keep me out for a couple hours before the weeds began washing in en masse and making the fishing too difficult. The fish are definitely out there at high tide and extra hungry. Just gotta pick a day when the tide and my sleep needs are more aligned! |
