Lake Istokpoga

6/22/2008 - Sorry this is so late folks, I've been a little busy lately. Bass Anglers of Hardee County fished their monthly tournamnet out of Istokpoga Park off of State Road 98. Lot's of fish were caught! The big fish was 8.88lbs caught by Team Legally Insane, the American Dream Fishing Team came in 1st with a total 14.66lbs. The lake hydrilla had been sprayed the 2 weeks before the tournament and the water was murky along with big clumps of deteriorating hydrilla. It was a sweltering hot day, little if no wind at times. If you could find some relatively clean hydrilla you usually found fish and they were hitting a variety of lures(if you could get the lure through the hydrilla). Cloud cover really seemed to be a factor as well as the dim early morning light. Fishing was real slow when the sky was clear and sunny.
