 | Local Tournament
09/21/09 9:32 AM patrick rood | This weekend I took a little time for myself and fished a local fishing tournament with my wife and a friend. First thing we hit a Trout hole and boated two Trout right off the get go! We were threw out some Pigfish and were throwing top water as well. My wife landed a nice Trout and Joe landed another. As the sun was rising, we targeted the Reds and boy did we run into them!! We were culling them all day long. We were pitching live shrimp, jerk bait and feeding them Aqua Dreams spoons all day. My wife landed a 32" Red that she was upset that we had to throw back but right after that she landed a nice 27" redfish! We measured it aleast 5 times to make sure that it was legal. Joe and I caught at least 10 Reds and were weighing them to see which ones we wanted to keep. We headed in about 1pm to the weigh in and was ready to weigh in our nice fish. Only to be told that our 27" Redfish was over size. It was an upset to my wife since she for sure thought that she had Lady Angler in the bag! But what can you do when the officals tell you its over size buy a hair. So we weighed in all our fish and was in 2nd place for a while. Ending up we got bumped out of the running. Thanks to East Cape for all the support!! All in all I had a great time putting my wife on the fish. Its not often that I get to fish a tournament with wife and friend.
