 | Ft. Pierce Inshore - Offshore Report
01/15/10 3:06 PM captjoeward | INSHORE There is not a lot to report this week with the water temps in the high 40's to low 50's. This is making the fish very lethargic and then they don't want to eat. I did have reports of a few schools of Bluefish in the Ft. Pierce Inlet and most of these fish were caught on spoons. A couple of local anglers did catch a few Sheepshead and Sand Perch from the catwalks of the South Bridge. The bad news is the hundreds or even thousands of stunned or dead fish that are floating from the water being so cold. Hopefully all of the really cold fronts have moved on and the weather will start to warm up.
OFFSHORE There is not a lot to report about for the offshore either. There is still a good Sailfish bite just a little to the north of the Ft. Pierce Inlet and starting in 100 feet of water.. In that same area there was a few Dolphin in the 10 to 15 pound range. Still a few Kingfish in the 70 to 90 oot range and they were taking live baits. The Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish have been along the beaches and right at the mouth of the Ft. Pierce Inlet.
TEEN ANGLERS The monthly inshore fishing tournament for the Treasure Coast Chapter of Teen Anglers is scheduled for this Sunday -- weather permitting. If you would like to join Teen Anglers or become a boat volunteer -- just go to the website www.teenanglers.org or call 772-201-5773.
