capt josh | Redfishing in summer needs to be an early morning or late evening event the summer heat has warmed the shallows to 89 degrees and around noon the water hits the 90's. Start off with a top water lure like a rapala skitter walk or a mirro lure she dog in the mullet color also a white gulp jerk bait rig weedless works great. For the live bait anglers Greens are the way to go right now ther are large schools around the mouth of Fillman's Bayou and around channel marker 13 off Aripeka. Stop into Precision Tackle and get the bag of dry chum it works wonders trust me I use it every day. Target the out side points, cuts, oyster bars, and rock piles on a high out going tide the Reds are running 24-33".
Snook are in the same areas as the Reds do the same tastic has the Reds top waters in the morning and white jerk baits Snook are running 20-31" fish the points with good moving water. And the Hernando Beach channel holds lots of big Snook.
Trout are in 10-14 feet on mix bottom use a 1/4oz jig with a new penny or white 3" gulp shrimp on the bottom, in the same areas there are lots of Sea Bass, Gag Grouper, Sharks, and Cobia.
The scallops are out of Bay port in good numbers and north to chazz look for them in 4-7 feet and make sure you are flying the divers down flag also no white water within 300 feet from any swimmers. I have herd of scallopers getting over 300 scallops thats is great news.
