07/15/10 11:33 PM capt josh | I had a charter Monday, my client was Charle Medrano and his 2 kids from Ft. Lauderdale. The day started of using Berkely Gulp 3" shrimp on a 1/4oz jig head fishing for Trout in 10-12 feet of water the action was great a lot of Sea Bass, Ladyfish, and Trout coming over the side but the size of the Trout were small and around 10:00 am the bite shut down. So we went scalloping and in 2 hours we had are limit of 10 gallons in no time, so I iced them down for an hour until they opened up and started shucking them it was a great day on the water.
Now for your fishing report. Look for Redfish in the early morning or late evening on a good moving tide. I have had my best luck on the last of the in coming tide and the first part of the out going tide use top water lures in the morning and a Berkely Gulp 3" shrimp under a popping cork with a 18 inch leader or a live Greenback on a 2-3/0 circle hook. Most of the Reds are in the upper slot to over the slot 25-32".
Snook are on the feeding frenzy target the points, cuts, and structure with a good flowing water i like to use a white zoom rig weedless or a live Greenback most Snook are 24-30".
Trout are out deep 12-14 feet on mix bottom use a 3/8oz mission fishin jig head with a 3" new penny gulp bouncing slowly on the bottom, in the same area you can also catch Gag Grouper, Sea Bass, Grunts, and Flounder.
Scallops are all over the place but in deeper water 6-10 feet a low tide is best and they are huge in size just go north to chazz and make sure you are flying the divers-down flag.
