Hernando Beach- Bayport

Fishing is steady here on the Nature Coast the hot action is Trout in 10-14 feet on spotty bottom. On my recent charters we were using a 3/8oz mission fishin jig with a gulp 3" new penny, and white shrimp bouncing slowly across the bottom. The Trout size are 15-23" and tons of shorts out there. In the same areas we are catching Mackerel, Sea Bass, Grunts, Gag Grouper, Sharks, and Ladyfish. Also closer to shore around the Hernando Beach rock piles are some Trout, Redfish, and Snook, also Jacks, and Pompano a top water in the morning produces great action and a mirro lure mirro dean has gave away to some big Trout. Live white bait and Pinfish under a popping cork works great. Target Redfish early in the morning or late in the evening when the water is coolest live and cut bait is the way to go right now once we get some good afternoon and evening rain storms the water temperature will drop a few degrees making the Redfish in full swing mode. Scalloping is just getting better and better limiting out in no more than a hour is great news compared to last year. Look for scallops north of Bayport in 6-8 feet. The fishing and scalloping is great so book your self a day on the water with me and enjoy some of the best fishing and scalloping the Nature Coast has to offer.
