31 Redfish

The inshore action was great this past week. We did great on HUGE Redfish, the only day I did not fish was Monday, but I made it out each morning until around Noon. The Reds are in schools of 2-8 per school and most of the Reds are over the slot 29-33”. I took out 2 kids for there first time and they both caught huge Redfish. The hot bait for me is cut pinfish and I free line my baits, sometimes I will use a cork but I like to free line. The Redfish are bottom feeders by nature but you can do very well on top water lures such as a Rapala Skitter Walk in the mullet color or trout color. And in the same areas we are finding some Trout but they are not big, these Trout are 14-17” . Also there are schools of big jacks in the back creeks busting on mullet schools. These jacks are 10-15lbs and are very fun to catch.

Trout are still out in the deeper waters target depths of 10-12 feet on spotty bottom use a 3/8oz mission fishin jig head with a 3” gulp shrimp. The Trout out here are huge 18-24” and the Trout action has been the best action this summer. Also in the same area you can find Sea Bass, Sharks, Mackerel, and Bluefish.

Scallop season is almost over we have a few weeks left, the last day is September 10. The scallops are in 6-8 feet look for spotty bottom and you should do well.
