Islamorada Backcountry, Reef, And Everglades
08/30/12 9:00 AM
CaptainBruce
My son Jesse came down from New York for one last week of fun before the start of dreaded twice-a-day football practice. What a great week of fishing we had!.
We fished the backcountry area around the Cape on Monday and despite the dirty water, caught plenty of snook, redfish, and baby tarpon. We did pretty much the same thing Tuesday morning, then spent the afternoon catching big bull sharks. Wednesday we only fished the afternoon, and went out front for yellowtail and mangrove snapper and caught lots of nice fish for dinner.
I had a charter on Thursday with two great guys from Maryland who wanted to go offshore. The heavy wind forced us to stay on the patch reefs and we put together a nice bite of porgies and snappers.
Friday, it was back to the Everglades where the snook bite was fantastic. We caught 4 good-size tarpon and lots of snook up to 15 lbs. The wind finally allowed us to go to the hump on Saturday, where we caught plenty of blackfin tuna aven had a close encounter with a small blue marlin - way cool!

Till Next Week...Captain Bruce
