Inshore Fishing Report

Inshore in the back country waters the red fish action is very good. We are catching big red fish from 25" to 31" around the outside islands, points, and mangrove shore lines with a good current flow. Live bait is the ticket right now, Pin fish and green backs rig with a 3/0 circle hook and 25 to 30 pound leader is the rig I use. Look for mullet schools I like the big black mullet I find the reds will hang with them cause they stir up more crabs and bait fish than the small silver mullet. The red fish will school up in even bigger schools by the middle of September, around that time expect to see red fish schools pushing in the 50 to 100 fish in a school. But you if encounter a school like this do not rush your self to get on the take your time and be very quiet, push pole the boat into casting range and use a bait or soft plastic lure that will land softly in the water less splash the better and just work the lure slowly. Top water plugs will work but most of the time the reds will spook. Gold spoons 1/4 ounce, white jerk baits, gulp shrimp, trigger x shrimp all these baits land softly.

Trout are in the deeper grass flats 8 to 12 feet jigs are the way to go a 1/4 ounce mission fishin jig head and a white or new penny gulp shrimp bouncing across the bottom will get the job done. Sea bass are also in the same area and this year I my clients have caught some of the biggest sea bass I have ever seen 12 to 15" are big sea bass for my area. Sharks are also in the same area big black tips and Atlantic Sharp nose are all over the place, A have spinning rod with 300 yds of 40 pound braided line and a big bait will get bit.

Fishing is awesome right now and will only get better and better book a trip ASAP to get in on this HOT action.
