Canaveral Banana River No Motor Zone (NMZ) View Larger Map
North of the Cruise Terminals on SR401 is a great place to put in a canoe, kayak or rowboat and slay Redfish, Black Drum, Trout, Snook & Catfish. There are many puffers chewing plastic lure like madness. So, make sure to bring lots of spares.

Lake Loughman View Larger Map
This 600 acre waterway is a unique mix of freshwater flow from the St. Johns River and salt water, flowing from a saltwater spring. Lying just east of the river, this very shallow lake (5 ft at most) is home to a mixed bag os species as well. Fly fisherman come to target shad and herring, while some target panfish, croaker and the likes, while others target bass or grouper (if the conditions are right). Public access can be gained via the ramp off SR 46.

| Lake Poinsett View Larger Map
This 5,000 acre shallow lake is the best bass fishing on the St Johns chain south of Lake George. Fish the vegetation and lily for excellent bass fishing, and sunshine bass may be where waters merge in deeper holes. Speck are fished during the cooler months while panfish and the usual suspects are always presnt along the shoreline. Lake Poinsett is west of Cocoa on SR 520.

Lake Sawgrass (407 acres) and lake Helen Blazes (381 acres) are two small lakes along the st. Johns river. These lakes have had a bout with problematic hydrilla, as of right now, they are under restoration efforts and are really too overgrown to fish and support game.

Playalinda Beach View Larger Map
Part of the Canaveral National Seashore, this beach has to be one of the most pristine places in Florida. Popular for sunbathers and surf fishing, you can expect to catch Whiting, Ladyfish, Blues, Sharks, Catfish and Pompano. The shore is populated with plenty of sand fleas, so you don't even have to bring bait if you don't want to.
