Mudfish Specifications


Water: Fresh Where: Inland
Size: Most common at about 2-5 pounds, not uncommon at 6-8 pounds with anything topping that considered a lunker.
Fight: Aa eager striker and fighter, putting on a good show at the surface. An all around good fight.
Deliciousness: Poor
Range: Fresh Water Technique: Still Fishing / Casting
Baits: Baitfish / Lures Tackle: Spinning / Baitcasting

The Bowfin is characterized by a long rounded off body, that is green to brown or darker along the topside fading into a lighter coloration along its underside. Indistinct darker splotches adorn his flank and a spot may be present at the tail, which is large and rounded.

These fish are found in murky, dirty and slow waters, often seen at the surface gulping air into his air breathing "lungs", as his habitat in sometime waters that cannot supply him with enough air at its low oxygen level.

These guys are aggressive and not picky, any natural bait and any artificial can be used when targeting these fish.
